Exterior Renovation Ideas

Summer is here! For us that means less time indoors and more time enjoying the fresh air, nice weather, and yard. It also means more time to stare at our exterior and daydream about renovation plans. I love to visualize our ideas, and find that powerpoint works great to create a vision board. During my professional design days I would fully render exteriors and be able to insert materials and colors to the 1/16″ for full accuracy. For a project as simple as ours, a rough image is more than enough to get the ball rolling. Below is an image of our current exterior. A simple ranch with vinyl siding, aluminum overhangs, and fake shutters (one of my biggest pet peeves with our exterior!).

Our budget for this project includes simple and affordable changes that will hopefully have a big impact!

Here is a basic rundown of the items on our list:

1. Remove awnings and fake shutters
2. Patch necessary spots
3. Paint whole house and trim white
4. Paint front door and overhang Iced Marble by Benjamin Moore
5. Paint steps and remove railings
6. New mailbox, house numbers, light, and door knocker
7. Add walnut window boxes
8. Add arbor with climbing plant around doorway
9. Update landscaping (next summer project!)

Not too bad of a list! We will be using wedding gift cards and DIY’ing all of this so it should be a fun, budget friendly job with a big impact!
